Now in a comfortable industrial unit in Aylesbury, things are a lot different from the early days of A for Alfa. The business was started with no debt, built only on the hard work and dedication of the tiny team.
A for Alfa was established, with a new, ethical approach to running an Italian car specialist: Precision over profit : focus on the attention to detail in all the work we do, using only the finest parts available.
Honesty : customers get what they pay for with no surprises, we use all of our expert knowledge to ensure the right work is carried out the first time.
Responsibility : If we make a mistake, we’ll put it right.
It turns out, this business model isn’t one that’s quick to build…
Our Story:
In 2005, frustrated with watching how a garage shouldn’t be run, our founder Paul Wright sold his motorbike, quit his job at a, now defunct, Alfa Specialist and put all his tools in the back of a small van and with the help and support of his Wife Carey, started A for Alfa.
Between a website built by his brother Adam and a fistful of homemade leaflets being deposited under the wiper of every Fiat or Alfa seen, the phone soon started ringing and soon enough we were travelling around the country in the rain, snow, wind and occasional shine performing cambelt changes and small services on driveways, office car parks, the side of the road, you name it! We built our name for great service and great value out there on the road.
In June 2014, we relocated into a lovely premises in Rabans Close, Aylesbury, primarily to allow us to keep up with the workload coming through the door. The new shop is less cosy than the old workshop, but now we have all the facilites we could ever want. Customers are still welcomed to stay while their cars are looked after, but now we can offer somewhere to sit, free WiFi and a hot drink, so you can work while you wait!
What I offer to my customers is a promise of the best prices on cambelt changes, where the customer knows what they are getting, and exactly what they are paying, none of this “err, um, it could be this price or that”. Great prices on servicing, using OE parts where available and great prices on repairs. I try to keep my customers informed at all times if a car is spending some time with me and I will only carry out work after agreeing this with the customer first!
I am active in the Italian car scene, and can be found at many meets, including the Ace café, on the second Thursday of each month, most Auto Italia meets, and the Alfa days, maybe I’ll see you there.
